We removed our kitchen desk but not the cupboards above it. Trying to figure out what to do....3 drawer cabinet (wide & deep) for more storage or try to find an old bottom hutch or console to put in there. Any suggestions? We just painted our cabinets white, island black, new antique brown hardwood floors and are getting Cambria countertops (white marbled w/ black on island and solid black on other countertops) installed next month. Also painted kitchen walls orange w/ a brown glaze.
Make it into a wine bar area by putting a couple cabinets sandwiching a wine cooler refrigerator topped with the Cambria. Install the wine glass holders on the underside of the upper cabinets and you'll have a cool, custom space.
Most of us can always use more storage in a kitchen. Adjustable, pull out shelves are a fairly easy retrofit to a cabinet. Look at what you would really like to have more space for, (baking center with mixer, coffee bar, cookbook storage, pantry/canned goods storage, food processor, etc) and work a storage unit to best fit these items?
The drawers in kitchen should be such that you immediately get a spoon or knife and do not need to search it all over the kitchen. The faucets should also be good enough to wash utensils even when there are larger ones.
