Hi I'm building a house and we needed to make these decisions like yesterday... We picked out brushed nickel for all of our door hardware through the house. We also picked out the brushed nickel for our kitchen cupboards which match our stainless steel appliances. The thing is we picked out lights with the oil rubbed bronze finish. We're also using the oil rubbed bronze in our powder room and master bath. My question is should the pendant lights that hang over our counter tops (uba tuba) be brushed nickel to match the appliances and pulls or oil rubbed bronze to go with the fan in the breakfast nook? Please help I'm so stressed out. Thanks.
Hi ambergirl and welcome, I personally don't think the finish on the lights you mention needs to match the fixtures, especially if you have a fan in the rubbed bronze. While I have brushed nickel knobs and pulls in my kitchen and bathrooms, most of my drapery rods and light fixtures have been gleaned from antique stores or salvaged from old houses and are in a dark finish. While I took great care to make sure those lights and drapery rods are similar, I think too matchy matchy is boring.

Thank you so much for replying. I really think either way I go would be fine...I just can't decide which way! The only thing about going with the ORB is that the granite (uba tuba) is black and I'm not sure if that would match. Has anyone seen the uba tuba with ORB before? Thanks!
Have had the same dilemma. Our new home is almost totally brushed nickel. However, I have been toying with the idea of darker finished pendants and other fixtures in the kitchen and breakfast nook.
I came to the conclusion that it would be fine, but I would want all of the ceiling fixtures in the kitchen (pendants and ceiling fixture over the sink) to match the finish on the chandelier over the breakfast room table.
Let us know what you do and how you think it turned out. You can always buy both, have someone hold them up and take one of them back.
