'90s kitchen update
Hello! I just purchased a home built in '93. The kitchen has peacock verde (dark green and black) granite countertops and midtone oak cabinets. All are in great shape but seem dated and not to my taste. I do not want to demo the kitchen and start over. I'm considering painting the cabinets in a color that both modernizes the space and brightens it but also ties in this common dark granite. I'm thinking of a creamy white or a light grey color. There is not a ton of natural light so I don't want to go dark with the cabinets. I would love suggestions of paint colors for cabinets and walls. Also backsplash ideas as the current brass tin squares have to go.

Thanks!

I just finished painting my oak kitchen cabinets. Recommended by a pro painter, I used Zinser 1-2-3 primer, tinted to Duron "shell white". Duron is now part of sherwin-williams",but they were able to pull up the duron formula. I used a micro-fiber roller, took 2-3 coats, but the oak grain is barely visible, no streaks, no brushmarks, etc. I just did a good clean on the cabinets, no sanding (as on the zinser 1-2-3 label & painter recommendation). Took a few weeks since I was working solo after I got home from work, but I'm thrilled with my "new" kitchen! Good luck!
