I just bought a house that had a HIDEOUS kitchen. It had red brick on the walls with ugly old brown cabinets. Impulsively I painted the brick white, thinking it would brighten the room up some. It did that, but it doesn't look any more attractive. I painted the opposite walls of the brick a light green. Now I don't know what to do. Is there a cabinet color that would look better with the white brick (and white tile backsplash)? Could I just put drywall over the brick and be done with it? I fear that painting the cabinets white would result in WAY too much white. Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated. Photo attached
Wood or white are not your only choices. I went from wood to white and finally decided to paint my cabinets colors that I actually like. The uppers are a different color from the lower cabinets on one side of the kitchen. The bank of cabinets and drawers on the opposite wall are the same as the uppers. Neither is the same color as the walls. I'm attaching a couple of pics just to give you an idea of what I mean.
Could you remove the brick rather than drywall over it?
I would probably replace the cabinet doors and get modern looking doors with mix of a few with glass inserts. You could also go with a chocolate colour and mix in a few full glass doors.
