or http://i45.tinypic.com/9uyeqw.jpgHi all, My wife and I are in the process of designing a new kitchen/diner/living srea by extending our current space. The pictures (linked above) shows our proposed plans of the extension and room for a potential utilities room (although we are now thinking of scraping the utility room and running the kitchen as a L shape on the back of the bathroom/side wall). Could any of you advise us what you would think would be the best way to have our kitchen? What we want to achieve out of the space is - 1. A sense of space 2. An Island between the kitchen units 3. A 6 seater dining table, ideally next to the kitchen space or next to the window. 4. Sofa/living space next to the bi-fold doors which lead into the garden 5. The kitchen area will have a free-standing washing machine and separate dryer, which needs to fit under work tops. 6. A place for cat food and cat litter box 7. An area or cupboard for the boiler The kitchen itself will be brand new and we are thinking of going for the glossy cream handless units with sold oak work tops. The kitchen will include an american fridge freezer, integrated dish washer, hob and hood, on the island (1-8m-2m) and plenty of storage space (roughly between 19-22 units with 1x500 larder and 1x300 larder). Any suggestions/ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks

Chris, if you don't care to hire a kitchen designer, to get started, I would suggest you take your dimensions and specifications into an Ikea or big box (large) hardware store and ask them to run your info through their design program. IME, they'll do it free of charge, without obligation. You can then tweak them, continue shopping for/pricing out materials, locate a contractor and make final decisions. WRT your drawing, many homeowners do not care to place a bathroom adjacent to either a kitchen or dining room. For several reasons, I would build your utility room and locate your boiler elsewhere. If you can return and post photos of your space, proposed materials and preliminary plans, I'm sure you'll receive many responses. Good Luck!
