Kitchen Island Light
Putting a new light above our kitchen island which is about 5 ft long and 3 ft wide. Going with the 2-light island/pool table light. I am thinking that it should be around 36-40" long but not sure about the height (have 8 ft ceiling). One light I am looking at is 37" long x 23.5" tall. Another one is 36" long x 19" tall. They both ave the wire to extend.

The height above the island is more important than the distance from the ceiling. You want the light to be high enough that you don't bang into it if you lean over the counter and aren't looking into the light when looking across the room. I'd make sure it is at least 6 feet off the floor which would put it at 3 feet above the countertop. Unless you are well above 6' in height this will keep it out of your direct line of sight and you won't bang into it when leaning into the counters.
