Help! After having hardwood floors installed on my first level, the refrigerator started causing a vibration noise. We put an old piece of carpet (and pad) underneath the refrigerator which eliminated the noise for five months. For no good reason, the vibration noise is back. I would appreciate any ideas I could try to eliminate the vibrating noise that permeates my entire first floor. Thank you!
Sounds as if your floor is not the problem. The problem exist with the appliance. Level? Something is not right with the compressor or it's bushings. The reason most likely that it returned is that the constant vibration has bottomed out on your absorbtion fix. A temporary would be to get some thicker (solid) rubber material. But the frig I suspect is the culpert.

The fridge repair man thought the noise was coming from an internal drip pan that was not secure. That seemed to help when we were standing in front of the fridge, but of course after he left the noise returned and I realized the noise would stop when we would walk on the wood floor any where near the fridge. Thus, my trip down the floor vibration path. Thanks for your suggestion for the rubber material.
