I have a 14 x 20 room that needs to be turned into a bedroom. It has no closests. I have the following furniture that will be placed in there. A queen size bed, dresser, night stand, chifrobe, 2 book shelves & a roll top desk. Need some ideas on how to work the furniture and a closet into this space. It has a sliding glass door to go outside on the deck.

Try creating a rough floor plan to scale in paint or some other program so you can post a picture up here.

Alternatively, do a diagram on graph paper with the windows and doors and make cutouts of the furniture to scale and move them around the room.

With respect to building a closet you need to figure out where you can build one that won't block a window or door or make it difficult to move furniture into the room by being too close to the door.

General Disclaimer

Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
