We are looking at Congoleum Duraceramic or Armstrong Alterna tiles for our kitchen and foyer. We do not have enough room to install porcelain tile or stone. Anyone have any experience with either product?

I used the Congoleum product years ago in our kitchen and our complaint is that it chipped when something was dropped on it. Much more so than ceramic tile would.
However, I read somewhere that the newer product behaves better.

So how did you fix your floor or did you just pull it out? Online there are many complaints about the Congoleum, some of them quite recent. They all discuss the problems with a thin top layer that chips or wears off easily. There are so many complaints that I question whether or not the Congoleum product is really as good as the Armstrong Alterna. I have a large dog (115 pounds with large nails) and two other large dogs that visit frequently. I am concerned about the durability of the product. I also noted that Congoleum refused to help various consumers with these issues. So what do you think?
