I have a wall I want to remove in the Garage, it is not an exterior wall. I think it is not load bearing. The wall stands between joists and runs parallel with joist. It is attached with 2x4 nailed across the joist then to the wall.
Joist A |----l----| Joist B
Generally load bearing walls will run perpendicular to the rafter/floor joist. Being that it is a garage I doubt that it would be configured for load bearing unless there is a room above. The 2X4 spanning from joist to joist is probably just a nailer for the top of the wall.
I don't have a good pic. but yes there is not a direct line from floor to joist (has to make a 90 degree turn to touch joist). there are rooms above, just not lined up with the wall in the garage.
