My husband and I just purchased our first home and love it! The problem?... the ceilings are only 7 feet tall and my husband is 6'5' so showering is an issue. We have 2 full baths and hate the upstairs one so we plan on remodeling. I would like to give him more head room in the shower... we have a full attic. Is it possible to raise the ceiling in the shower? We want to do ll the work ourselves and hope that we will be able to do this project. we would appreciate any advice on this matter. Please help!
It depends. We'd need more information to determine if you could cut into your attic to raise the ceiling in your bathroom.
Roof structure - trusses or rafter/joist? Roof trusses can't be modified or cut, ceiling joists can with proper restructuring.

IMHO this is not a DIY project, unless you have a full assortment of power tools and a lot of experience. Doesn't sound like you have the experience.
7' ceilings are non-standard in most codes and not a good choice for your husband. My study ceiling is only 7' but I am under 6' and growing shorter all the time! The rest of the house has 9' ceilings minimum.

It might be wise to have a contractor do the structural work, and you and your husband do the simpler stuff like paint, tile, and fixtures. You could probably save a bundle.
