Hi All, I have a dilemma I need solving. .Would you please give me your expert advice

My sister bought some bamboo floors to put in the upstairs bedroom (3bedrooms are located in the finished attic). She then decided to continue the theme to the hallway, but there's a problem. The hallways have original early 1800's oak hardwood floors (not attractive because of cracks) that are painted dark brown.

So my concern is how are we going to transition the oak stairwell(including post, stairs, stair nosing and other decorative detail) to the bamboo hallway?
Do you think we should get bamboo nosing for the stairs and paint the rest of the oak trim white to hide the differences in the wood?
    Please we need your help.....
ps I will include pics later. I am visiting the house later tonight.

I am having problems uploading the pictures. My techie boyfriend is going to swing by to help me. So hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post them.
Again I really would appreciate any of your suggestions.
