Hello, Gal Abby -- I hope what I am about to ask is within the guidelines of this web-site. I am in need of help for my foundation/basement problems. In April of 2011, tornadoes hit the town where I currently live and I am still trying to repair the damage that was done to my home. My homeowner's insurance denied my claim so I filed a claim with FEMA since the state was declared a federal diaster area (TN). Well, FEMA denied my claim as well. My problem is that I had water to infiltrate the den/basement area of home. My French drain system failed during the heavy rains from the tornadoes. So, now I need to have a new French drain system install around the foundation of my home. I have no funds for this project --- However, I have taken the"bull by the horns" and setup my "own fundraiser" to see if I can raise funds for this sole purpose. 1. It isn't within the guidelines 2. Gal Abby doesn't live here anymore 3. Without flood insurance I believe your insurance company is within their rights to refuse the claim. Flooding isn't covered. Had your roof been blown off and the house flooded, it would have been covered. Ground water flooding is not covered in regular homeowners insurance. 4. Sorry for your loss, but I think you'll need to find a way to pay for it yourself. Soliciting funds on HGTV.com looks a lot like spam and I doubt anyone here is going to give you money.
