    Hi,
I bought the house that I live in 4 years ago,
fairly old house. In just about 2 weeks I'am having new siding, gutters, and downspouts put on. The foundation is pretty high compared to the other houses in this area at least 2 feet or so. The previous owners painted it green.
What would be the proper way to prepare and repaint the foundation? Should the foundation paint match the trim or the siding color or does it matter and can be painted white? The siding will be a cream color ( looks like a very pale buttercup yellow) the trim will be a green color not pale green. I would like to get this done before the siding is put on. Any help with my questions would be so appreciated. Thank you very much, Sincerely, patches&rags

you might want a darker color to "set" the house rather than have it look like it's floating...

if it's concrete, i'd wash, repair any cracks, and prime. use masonary formula paints.

Matching the siding or going a little darker in the same color will keep it from looking too choppy ...and like sjf said..it will "ground" it.

If you can post a pic once your siding is up maybe someone can do a mock up to show you what your choices would look like. There are a few posters on the "General Decorating" board here that are especially good at that.

Here is (the back) of a rental of mine where I painted the foundation as close to the brick as I could get. I don't have a "before" pic but it was light gray and it made the house look short and squatty.
