Sorry, I didn't know where else to post this but I have a problem with my air conditioning. It works and everything to some extent. It seems to work as the indicator shows its working and it starts blowing out cold air but it doesn't blow out much to keep the house cool. In fact, its very little and just leaves it feeling like I'm wasting electricity. What could be the problem, any suggestions on making it work better? Thanks in advance.

Is this Central Air or window air conditioner. If it's Central Air, time to make a service call, as this is not a Do it yourself project. You could have a Freon leak, it may need to be recharged, you could need a new condensor. Impossible for us to tell you what's wrong with it without looking at it. If it's a window one, you'll need to take it into a shop that fixes them, or buy a new one.

Not sure... Sounds like it's cycling off too soon. It needs service.

Just an aside... This won't likely fix your present problem, but your system will operate more efficiently if you set the fan to operate continously. So many people make the mistake of leaving it set on "auto", which is best for heating, but not for cooling.

It's not a window one and is im assuming an open air one as the big box type of thing is located outside and I have a system box inside...but keeping the fan on would keep the house cooler?

Circulating air is more comfortable air. It's the same thing as being outdoors on a hot day; you feel too hot if the air is stagnant but much more comfortable when there's a breeze.

You'll also have fewer "hot spots" in the house when the fan is running, and you won't get that feeling of being warm again just before the condenser kicks on again.

Watch your electric bill increase substantially when you run the fan continuously! Eek

"Substantially"? Not true in the least. The furnace motor uses more amps starting and stopping than it would if left to run continuously. Put a volt meter to it, and you could see for yourself. It's like driving in stop and go traffic vs. traveling using cruise control on an interstate. Which uses more gasoline?
