Could anyone tell me how the walls in the master bedroom and bath were done. It's not the regular wainscotting that you find in the home improvement stores. It looks like some type of wood strips over the finished sheetrock?
How far apart to you space them and the size of the the boards used? Thank you. |

Hi Birmingham, Huntsville here. There is a video telling about the gh master, but I can't find it. They painted the sheet rock and added strips of wood to look like board and batten.

Sometimes this style of wainscot is referred to as Craftsman style wainscot. They used to be made using a thin sheets of wood and the rails were used to hide the seems of the veneer type of wood. Today most people just use a plate rail or for a more informal look you can use a 1 x 4 at the top and rails for the strips eliminating the thin wood veneer behind the rails. Typically the height of this type of wainscot starts at 4' and can go well beyond 6' whichever is most pleasing to you. As for the space between the strips that's up to you, usually it ranges around 10" to 12" but it can be smaller or larger depending on the size of the room. We were thinking of doing this type of wainscot in our guest room, we did the more traditional type of wainscot in our dining room and staircase already.
