I just found a way to make older oak cabinets(and new ones too) look like mahogany cabinets. I cleaned the cabinets with liquid sand paper and used a deep puple acrylic satin paint to accomplish this miracle. The paint is applied almost dry brushing so the grain still shows and the cabinet doesn't look painted. I am so excited to not have to sand and stain.

I would like to see a picture as well. I am planning to get a cherry/mahogany look that I saw on msn's BeJane. They took Spice Berry paint from Behr and painted over primed (white) cabinets. Then they took a black tinted glaze and did a wipe-on/wipe off treatment. The look was very high end and you couldn't tell that it wasn't stained. Anyone else know of similar treatments? I would love to know of a paint color/glaze combination that you could use to achieve a clear-coated birch/maple look.

ColorSplash program a couple of weeks gave some info on how to do this - they made the walls look like mahogany. I only saw the last 5 min or so. Did anyone see it?
