I would like to paint 2 horizontal lines in my son's bedroom, so I'm needing some direction on how to go about this in the easiest way...if there is an easy way!

    Thanks for any info!!

    Hi RSM,

We painted horizontal lines in one of our rooms. We measured up from the top of the baseboard the height we wanted the bottom of the first stripe all around the room and marked with a pencil. Then we connected the lines lightly with a pencil. You could use a level to spot-check your lines, but we didn't.

We measured up from the first line to find the top of that stripe and reeated the marking and connecting of dots.

We used tape to keep a clean line, and this part is important (at least it was to us) - paint away from the tape, not towards it, and remove the tape right after you get done with your last coat of paint - this greatly reduced the bleeding, and removing the tape right away allowed us to work on any mistakes right away.

In some cases we went back and sharpened up the lines a bit.

As I said, I used a pencil to draw a light line, but if you look closely you can see my line (even through a bright green and bright blue), so you might want to try to find something that covers better than that.

It really wasn't hard at all, and the effect is really neat.

    Have fun!
    Lynne

As an added tip, it works well to mark with the fabric felt tipped markers that you can buy in the fabric store or Walmart has them. They are water soluable, and so much easier to get off than pencil.
