I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a window seat in my house it is kind of a dark wood. I was wondering if i could paint it black and make it look distressed. How would i do this and would i buy black flat paint???

Yes you can paint it. I would consult your local paint store as to which paint to use...oil or latex. As for the sheen, flat, satin...it really depends on what you like. In my business, I use a dull/flat on my cabinets.

In order to achieve the desired finish, I would recommend using a material like mineral spirits or methyl hydrate on a rag..depending on the paint used, to rub of the finish instead of sanding.
