Needs Wall Ideas
I want to paint this wall as an accent wall but I need some ideas on what to do here.
I was thinking of going with some crate and barrel wall shelves and then put some framed photos up there. The wall has some samples taped up to give me an idea of what color is best. I was thinking of a light muddy earthy grey. Tan would also look good but the carpet is already a sand color. My ex gf also thinks I have too much brown but I like dark furniture, and I want to add color by art or plants etc.
Pics aren't attaching correctly so here is a photo album.
I'm selling the NYC art and I think some surfing canvas' might look cool. This message has been edited. Last edited by: rhettp,
Some people don't like an accent wall but I think there are many reasons for paint one wall a different color.
From your px I would suggest you need some closed storage to control the clutter potential. Maybe a combination of lower closed units and upper shelving.
I have no idea what you mean by crate & barrel shelving as I believe they have many types just like any other store.
I'm not sure what you mean by a closed storage unit to control clutter?
The tv unit I have is $1400 so I'm not going to toss that out the window for a new console with shelves and drawers. I will prob hang the guitar on the wall and I just bought a new paper storage bin to hold my documents under my desk.
Here's an update on the "clutter." I have a few boxes next to my desk but that is just temp for now.
This is what I mean by crate and barrel shelves:
First, what color do you recommend me painting? The reason I only want to do one wall for now is because its an apt and I dont want to have to repaint the entire room when I move. Also, painting makes your rooms looks smaller and I don't want that. I have some color samples up on the wall with what I'm thinking.
I might mix some of those crate shelves with some surf art like this on the wall to add some color.
what do you think? This message has been edited. Last edited by: rhettp,
Okay, new px! Can you possibly get a px of the whole wall? All of it has to be taken into consideration. I see something white in the left of the px which is in high contrast to the TV area so you have to make it it work with whatever that is ....maybe.
I like the idea of the floating shelves as they seem to go with your style and adding some color is good with the px though I can't tell is a 3px spread is good without seeing more of the wall.
About the paint color. Get at least 3 or 4 of each paint strip and tape together. It gives you a better idea of how it will work. Try 5 colors at a time, pick favorite. Then 5 more till you get it down to a couple. The color will also look different on the right of the TV and on the left because of the light source so try your favorites in both area.
I like your idea of a muddy grey but be sure that the painting you choose will "pop" on that wall and make it big, not small.
Try to select a nice color for your idea, which gives a magical look.
