I was replacing an old rusty sink with a nice resale find & I couldn't stand the mauve counter any longer. I didn't want to spend a lot to replace it so I painted it myself. I was shooting for a red marble look. I'll probably stain or paint the cabinet darker someday, and the original "country" wall paper will also go away. After some sanding, I used Benjamin Moore multi purpose interior exterior primer as a base, a variety of acrylic hobby paints (Delta, Americana etc that comes in small plastic bottles) and sealed it with several coats of Benjamin Moore Stay Clear acrylic sealer. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I'm very happy with the results.
I should add that I was told that even tho it's dry to the touch, the acrylic finish takes something like a week to cure completely.

Good job! Now I would put a wrought iron candle holder nearby, or an artifical plant or whatever goes in your room.

I'm not sure what the problem is but it seems the photo keeps being removed. It was under the size restriction - just a photo of my painted counter top.

The photo shows up in both posts. Perhaps you were not logged in and could not see them??

After you sign in, you still need to hit the refresh, up in the upper tool bar. For me it is a counter clock wise circular arrow.
