Hello

I have a beautiful expensive daybed and computer desk hutch set that I wish to paint. The furniture is antique white and I placed brown decorative pillows that faded into the furniture . I tried cleanign the furniture but it brown stain will not come out.

So I thinking painting would be my best opioion or if anyone has a suggestion on the best cleaning product I can use to remove the stain . I'm afaid is i try painting I may ruin the furniture.

Can we start with... what have you used to try to clean it?
I would probably attempt using some denatured, alcohol based cleaner, but only in an inconspicuous place and on a Q-tip or small cloth. You can try rubbing alcohol (91%) and get denatured from the paint/hardware store if it works.

And If it works, allow it to dry and check the finish. It may take the surface coat with it along with the stain, so be cautious. If it does work, then respraying with a clear coat sealant, should work to re finish the protective shine. Once again just do tests on a hidden location first.

I know you posted some time ago now, but I am wondering how it worked out for you? What did you do? I had a similar situation, well, with a small exception that I had my outdoor furniture stained. I made a mistake and decided to hire a contractor before trying to get the stain off :-) Sometimes we need to think twice before doing something lol. Anyways, they paint outdoor furniture and I had mine repainted. I wish I tried taking the stain off by other means because repainting it cost me a lot! But it looks good now, so, whatever!
