Help! This weekend we decided to stain a small table using Minwax Wood Finish. It looked beautiful, but it WON'T dry. It's really sticky. What is the best way to get this sticky stuff off? What product? And what do you think happened? Thank you very much.

You can probably remove the stain with mineral spirits if it is still sticky (not totally dry).

Minwax Wood Finish is a penetrating stain, if it doesn't penetrate and lays on the surface it will take a long time to dry. It probably will dry - by the way, but it will take a long time.

It sounds like you stained over the top of a sealed surface.

Did you sand down the table real good before you put the stain on? it does sound like there was a sealer still on the table, use a sander with 80 grit then move to 100 grit and then hand sand with 220 grit then apply your stain then use Shellac then your Varnish.
