    Hi everyone.
I have a couple of questions. First I have a tv armoir that is unfinished. I am painting my family room and I want to paint the armoir. How should I do that.
The second question I have is I have a dining room table and chairs that is metal. The top of the table is a light wood in color. I want to paint the rest of the table and chairs white and redo the cushions. What should I use on the metal.

    Thanks alot
    Tonya

Tonya, as far as you Tv armoir, you don't say what you want it to look like, finish wise! What is the look of your room, or should I say what will style are you going for in that room? There are so many finishes that knowing what you are looking for will help narrow it down to a couple of options. As for your metal table, spray paint for metal. You don't say what color your starting from, if it's dark you will need to prime first. If it's light you may be able to get away with just a couple of good coats of white. I would sand it to take off the shine then prime if nesassary, then paint. You may want to remove the top before painting at the very least I would mask it off and protect the top from overspray. Same if there are attached cushions, remove them. It's easy to paint metal table and chairs, I did our several years ago, Just use light application and if you have to do several coat's versus heavy coat and dealing with runs, drips etc. So let us know what style your looking for for your armoir. I am sorry I never thought about all the other stuff. My family room has a medium color oak trim with a large oak trimmed archway leading into the kitchen. I am painting the room cream n'sugar. My whole house has that country feel. Like you would see in the Country Sampler Magazine. As for my table & chairs the metal is black. I just want to paint it for a change of pace. Until I buy a nice wooden dining room outfit.

    Thanks
    Tonya

Ok, primer on the metal table and chairs, so that the black won't show thru your new white paint job. Ok armoir, have you seen any pictures of painted furniture that inspired you? Cause myself and everyone here can give you tips and idea's but it would be better if you knew what look you want then we can walk you thru the process. Check out magazine's and store flyer's for inpiration furniture, it would be great if you could post the inspiration as well as your armoir pictures, then we can walk you thru the process. Now if you just want to paint it, then it will depend on the color of paint you want to use as to the process of painting it. Sorry, it's not really hard, it just I need to know the level of depth or lightness of paint so I can figure out if you need to prime or not. Rkg
