A few years ago we painted our walls with American Traditions granite paint from Lowes. Now we want to get rid of it. No one we have asked seems to know how. Any suggestions would be great!

How much area do you have of it?
    If it's a lot, I'd prime it....

Then, HIRE someone to do a smooth skim-coat.
For the best look, HIRE it out.
    99% of D-I-Y-ers don't have the skill/touch to pull a smooth wall.

You could use a pole-sander...BUT...by the time you sanded the wall smooth, a plaster-guy would be done & out of there...

I agree with Faron, though, depending on the depth, sanding alone may work. Sanding down the surface and coating a few times with paint may be enough to give you that smoother surface again.
