I am looking for the best quality paint to use for a kid's room. I have used valspar from lowe's, but I didn't like the way it went on and how it dried.

Take your concerns and dislikes to a pro paint store like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. These stores have trained individuals selling the paint lines, not just the local HS or College kid on the weekends.
I use SW a lot, and often get sale emails for 30-40 percent off paints, ask when their next sale is and you can save a lot too.

I have found that their top paint lines, go on easily/smoothly, cover really well and are cleanable/washable. Well worth the few extra dollars to me.
