I am spray painting a 30" x 60" foam board. How do I do this without making it look streaky, so it is even looking. Not enough here, or there, more solid looking?
Did you prime the board first?
Then Shake the can for a COUPLE of MINUTES. This mixes the paint pigment and propellent for a more even coverage coat.
Do light passes at the labels recommended distance from the board (keep the can moving from one side to the other, without stopping before you go off the edge) to mostly cover the board. Do not try to get full coverage in one layer. Turn the board a quarter turn if possible, and repeat. If the paint finish is dark, it may take several applications. Rotating the board keeps the striping to a minimum.
On flat surfaces you may opt to lay it flat on the floor rather than standing it upright. If you ever get drips...you are moving the can too slow, maybe too close and applying more paint in a pass than you should.
Shaking the can enough before starting is often the key thing we might forget.
