Just wondering if anyone has tried the Kaboom Cleaner. The one I seen on TV is supposed to be good for soap scum and hard water combined.
I've been using the Arm and Hammer Scrub Free cleaner for the soap scum and it works great. If there's something out there that will do both jobs with one cleaner, I'm all for it. Just curious how the Kaboom works before I spend the money on it. Thanks! |

Are you talking about this brand? Kaboom!
If so, we've bought it on occasion and it does fine. Really, no better or worse than the others. We use CLR on soap scum for the shower doors (although they are nearly beyond hope). I did get a pleasant surprise the other day. Bought this Scrubbing Bubbles Foamer and sprayed it on our shower's old white tiles. Left it overnight. The next day it looked like the grime was still on the tiles, but I took one swipe with the sponge and the dirt came right off. And I mean right off, no scrubbing whatsoever. |

I wouldn't buy Kaboom because it would remind me of that horrible salesman Billy Mayes who is smiling all the way to the bank!

OK I hate billy with his beard that looks painted on, but I DO buy Kaboom and have found it to be the best product for cleaning the soap scum and hard water on my glass shower enclosure.
An interesting tip.....I had a floor to ceiling glass shower panel that was beyond help. It had many years of hard water and soap scum etched into the glass. When we had guests over I would put cooking oil on the inside of the glass panel.....it became crystal clear! It would eventually wear off, but it seemed like a miracle fix to me!! |

Tell me more about the cooking oil. What do you apply it with? How do you get it off?

I've always used lemon oil on the glass . After you get it clean just wipe it down with lemon oil .

lemon oil, cooking oil....any clear oil (OK...not motor oil) LOL
Just as Quilt said....just clean as usual, then apply the oil w/ a soft cloth. It just wears off as you shower. Takes a few showers for it to return back to a haze... |

I used kaboom also, worked fine but no better than others. I mainly use tilex shower mist, after showering spray it on the glass and it dries crystal clear.

Ole Billy is a running joke around my house. As for Kaboom...bought some and found it to be a waste of money--IMO.

Save some money on whatever product. Wipe down the shower after every use.
Best thing I've found for cleaning shower doors (before we got smarter) was to spray with Simple Green and then use the steam machine with the small non-copper brush. Kaboom works as well as any product. But wiping works best. Only takes a few minutes. |

I would never buy any product promoted by B.M. I don't like being yelled at by some joker on the T.V.

Then, Robeau, you don't use OxyClean, do you?
I first learned of that product from Billy. When I bought some and did the white curtain test (because of the ad), the dipped part of one curtain was instantly clean. I do like Oxy. I don't care for his voice but apparently mft. do use him because the products he hypes do sell. |

If you switch to body wash instead of bar soap you don't get the build up on shower doors.
