I have to declutter, pretty much have 4 households in 1 ( sold beach house, mom moved in , inherited house) I am also the type who can't throw anything away. I will get on a jag, fill up the donation box and 2 weeks later, it's 1/2 empty again. Anyhow found a thrift store about 35 miles away that is run by teh Washington Humane Society. You shoud see me now! I'm tossing everything in these boxes. Purses with tags still on it, my wedgwood china pieces, antique lace runners. Easy to do when you know it is really going to a deserving cause.

Well Done! We also find the need to declutter - much to my husband's delight! We have a Relay for Life Youth Team. So each year, we host a multi-family Yard Sale. All proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
When there is a "should I keep it or sell it" moment - the sell it always wins when it's for a worthy cause.
Keep up the donations! It truly helps many in need.

That is great! I am glad that you are getting things done and what a great place to take your unwanted things.

I plan to have a few garage sales this spring/summer and then list a few things on line on a facebook site I belong to and what doesn't sell will go to goodwill or some place like that.

Congratulations! You're right about the more you do it the easier it becomes.
Tip: I've found that using a shredder really speeds up the process of getting rid of paper.
I always had to rip it up so no personal info goes out.. much handier to feed it to the shredder.

The Catholic church in our town and the Arts Council both have HUGE sales every year. I always donate to those (neither takes clothes it's always "stuff") -- both are worthy causes and I'm happy they get the money for it!
