My basement commode had mold growing on the seat and cover. I washed it several times with bleach but it left behind stains. What, if anything will get rid of these stains?

I think I'd just buy a new toilet seat...and not worry about the mold re-apprearing.

We also have a basement bathroom that does not get used regularly...and always keep the lids closed shut. Also have gotten spots on the underside of the lid/seat, and they don't clean off easily (tend to leave a faint spot/stain). Seems Tylex mold/mildew cleaner works the best for me. Our lids/seats are wood based, perhaps a plastic lid would be less apt to do this?

Never thought of buying a new one. That would solve the problem for now. I will also try Tilex.

Watch that Tilex. That stuff is potent!!!! We leave lid and seat UP to air. Stops any mold growth in basement bathroom toilet. Humidifier in summer obviates doing that. Winter is when we do that. We shower in the basement; thus moisture even with vent fan.
