I have some gray marks on my white porcelein kitchen sink from the aluminum top to my electric skillet. I used some Cerama Bryte to try and rub them away but it didn't do the job. What can I use to remove these small gray marks?

The only thing that I have found that gets them off is a Scotch-Brite (green) scrubber. Use some Bon Ami or Soft Scrub.. be careful though, if it is a new sink, you don't want to scratch it up yet.

I am a firm believer in Ajax scouring powder and elbow grease.

Please post back if you've gotten them out.

Whoops! I've been out of town and couldn't get back to you all.

I tried the soft scrub and some comet cleanser, very gently, but the marks didn't go away-- they are much fainter but still visible. I am going to try the Bon Ami, Bar Keeper's Friend or Zud, whichever one I find first. I'll keep ya posted Jan!

The soft scrubbers should do the cleaning but mixing it with Ajax or other cleansers can be used without worry of scratching.
Does Bon Ami still say "hasn't scratched yet.
But baking soda made as a paste is always safe and works for most jobs.
Melbourne, do as I did, put a stainless grill on the bottom of the sink to protect it against exactly what marks you found happened.

Hey Park Place, I do have a liner in the bottom of my sinks. The gray marks are on the center sink divider and the side corners where the sink isn't protected by a liner.

The baking soda didn't work. I am off to the store today to try and find some of the aforementioned products. Wish me well! Big Grin

I don't know if this will help. But I have a set of Syracuse China that developed the gray marks that you describe. I sent a piece back to them and they told me to get a product called Zud. It is a cleanser in a can, much like Barkeepers friend, etc. It did get the gray marks off and I am assuming that it was gentle enough not to take the finish off my dishes. Good luck and let us know what finally works for you.

ANY of them will work with the green scrubber. The green scrubber is the key........

little story: when DD was a kid, she would trade chores in an effort to avoid scrubbing "yukky" cookware. She now has a SS sink in her home, I do not. Last holiday get together, after washing a SS roasting pan she realized it had left marks in my white porcelain sink... she thought they were permanent. Razz pay back time! I handed her a can of Bartender's Friend and a sponge

You can try soaking the sink with hot water and washing soda. It will bleach your sink to a sparkling white and I think will help with the grey marks.

If that doesn't work, try a paste of hydrogen peroxide and cream of tartar. That is supposed to get even rust stains out.

As a last resort, you can try soaking the sink with hot water and bleach, then scrub gently with a scrubby after soaking for an hour or so.

I say use bleach as a last resort because it is not as environmentally friendly as the others.

I'm telling you guys... you but a scotch-brite green scrubber and I cut it into thirds or 4ths because they are too big, and use one of those with comet or ajax and voila! Gone in seconds!

Hey everyone, finally got around to making a purchase for this problem! Comet, baking soda, Soft scrub, all with AND without the green scrubby did not work. Bleach did not work. Clorox Clean UP did not work.

Bar Keepers friend and a wet cloth and MINIMAL effort was all it took. I have a beautiful, clean, white sink.

Thanks for all the recommendations! Hope this works for everyone having this problem.
