I just bought my house and the bathroom grout has not been cleaned in 3 years. Any suggestions?

I used StoneTech Restore, which is an acid-based cleaner.

I would open the windows, spray the tile and grout with Tilex or another bleach-based mildew cleaner, shut the door tight and let it sit for a couple of hours before scrubbing off with a scrubbing pad made for tiles - get yourself one of those with a long wand handle attachement so you don't strain your back. Have a fan ready to ventilate if the fumes get too strong.

IF that doesn't do it, ask what others have done. Sometimes those MR. Clean Magic Erasers work when other things fail. Some people swear by a paste of baking soda and lemon juice. AFter three years, though, I'd start with Tilex.

Good luck!

If you do use Tilex, do as Ellen suggested...ventilate. That stuff is potent!
You could try Chlorox Gel Bleach, then Magic Erasers.
A paste of OxyClean will clean grout but left on just a bit too long and you'll need an awl to get it off. It does work, especially in the corners. If you try that, follow the time instructions exacly.
I'd try the easy route: Tilex, then bleach and/or Eraser, and with Oxy for the corners.
Have you called a kitchen/bath store for their recommendations or a Lowe's, HDepot?

Tilex gets my vote too!
Another solution... re-grout-
some of the shows on HGTV have done this
and it seemed to work perfectly;
the tile areas looked brand new!
