I just got a new 8 x 10 area rug that I purchased at Lowe's. It has been down two days and still ripples at the edges. I have no heavy books or anything heavy to put on it that I can think of.......we are moving the rest of our things from the midwest to AZ in the spring. My question is, does anyone know how to get rid of the rippling?

You could try using a warm steam iron above/on it, to relax the weave a bit? If you have no steam iron available, then might just spray water to slightly dampen the edge to see if it will help. Wondering if it could be a flaw in production, since you say it ripples at the edges. Maybe the seam binding has not been done correctly?
How about milk jugs or other plastic containers filled with water? You also call Lowes for suggestions - could be other buyers of similar rugs have also had the same problem.
As I said, we JUST moved in and are living bare bones here until we go back to Iowa this spring to get the rest of our things. Yes, we have living room furniture but only the four legs touch the rug. I think I will call Lowes and see what they suggest. The iron might work also. I think I will look for one at a second hand store. I have four at home so hate to pay full price for one. We don't have that many jugs and I don't think it would work anyway. Thanks for the suggestions~

I called Lowes to see if they had a suggestion and he said nothing will help it if it ripples so I brought it back. It showed no signs of laying better.

You did the right thing in returning the troublesome rug. I must say that Lowes has always treated us fairly when handling returns and we've remained loyal customers in part due to their exceptional return policy.
