I notice that we frequently mention deep cleaning. Do we all do the same things? I was just curious about what you do when you "deep clean"?

For me it would be : washing windows and screens inside and out, washing all trim and baseboards, washing all doors, brushing the walls, removing and cleaning all artwork, washing all wooden furniture, vacuuming/scrubbing all sofas and chairs, washing/dusting all knick knacks, etc.

Bathrooms and kitchens would be scrubbed appropriately. Floors would be cleaned, too

oh, and all the baskets you hid stuff in..haha.

...all you said PLus curtains/blinds, etc., and pulling out appliances, and taking mattresses outside to air (helped my mother do this every spring and maybe fall as well...don't think people do this anymore.)

I've know some folks that store away seasonal clothing and then take it back out, wash/iron again!!! I'm not that OCD...LOL!

Well, CJO, I can honestly say that I have never taken my mattress outside!

Oh, yes, curtains and blinds get cleaned . I think I still have scars on my hands from helping my mother wash those horrible Venetian blinds in the bathtub!!!

I will shamedly admit....I am not faithful about pulling out the appliances

Bathrooms and floors are done weekly. Screens and windows are usually done in the spring and fall. That task is broken down into the front or back windows separately.

I seldom do a so-called Deep Clean and like to break it down into smaller tasks. It's just easier for me to keep up that way.

Walls and baseboards are washed down when the room is being re-painted not on any scheduled routine. Seems to work.

Seriously, CJO, You really do this??? I'm almost 69 and I've never done that and never saw my mom do it either. Maybe we were deprived of more chores to do, tho now this dog isn't learning any new tricks.

When I hear deep cleaning/spring cleaning/fall cleaning I think that everything in my house needs to be cleaned!

I remember my grandmother taking cotton mattresses and feather mattresses outside, but never the innerspring mattresses.

We had innersprings growing up so never did that either, but we did hang our feather pillows on the clothes line to air a couple/three times a year.

No, Mamaspoon, I don't; but my mother did until she moved into an upstairs townhouse after retirement... LOL!!!

I grew up with the cotton mattresses and once I got big enough, carried them outside lots of times for sunning. They folded nicely on the way out, but coming in was a different story. They were usually so fluffed, that it was difficult. They smelled so good, though.

I can remember the bed scaffold which was made for just that purpose at one house. But remember that we had 5 beds to sun and each had at least two mattresses.

We flopped ours on top of grouped-together lawn chairs

My mom always did spring cleaning, as in stripping the wax floors and re-waxing them, wiping all the kitchen cabinets and paneling with Liquid-Gold..remember that?

I find that DH and I do deep cleaning each time before we have a big party which is a few times a year. Cleaning all the windows inside and out....since most are not covered and we have dogs it's a necessity. Dusting baseboards, chandeliers, pendants, dusting walls (stucco) artwork, and wax buffing the concrete floors, we have commercial floor machine so that's easy.

Pressure washing all the pavers, stone and concrete only happens twice a year, it takes at least 3 full days to do.

I thought taking the mattress out to air was something that went away with gas lighting..LOL! Most innersprings are so heavy I could hardly flip them much less take them outside. I do vaccuum mine though every few months.
