Sad and appalled!

lady of shallotSad and appalled!
I'm sad because I think I have lost the necklace DGD brought back from Paris for me. Appalled because in looking in every nook and cranny I am finding a lot of less than perfect housekeeping!
I realized going to her college the other day that I would normally wear a piece of jewelry that some one had given me, upon my next meeting with them. But the necklace is nowhere to be found. Have even started calling businesses etc. that I went to that week of receiving it.
Looked under and behind every piece of furniture in my bedroom, through the necklace racks several times. I have started to clean up the dirt found but only wish the other part of the story was as easy to remedy.

nettiejayI'm sorry.

One place I've found lost items several times - inside shoes that I've left sitting outside the closet. The item dropped inside and I never noticed until I went to wear that pair again.

KeepYouInStitchesDH lost a key. I looked around the cubby in the closet where he normally placed it. Looked on the floor. Looked in his shoes and boots. Found it in a boot.
I wish you luck in finding your necklace.
(OH MY! StepD knocked the curtain rod down in my sewing/quilting room. She crawled under the quilt frame as I pulled it from the wall/window so that she could stand...she nearly got attacked by the killer dust bunnies! The windowsill was an inch thick!! I was mortified. Well..not really, but I took the opportunity to grab the duster and give it a cleaning.)

lady of shallotHappily after calling DD to lament my loss, I went back to my bdroom and found the necklace on the necklace rack. It was under one with bigger disc things.
Then I dusted those places that have been overlooked but have to go back and do a more thorough job. I am not the cleaner I once was!
(but glad to know others have dust bunnies too!)

sms29s66los, I usually find the lost item just after replacing it. My two latest losses are a tablespoon from my stainless flatware (no telling how long that's been missing) and the sink trap/stopper. I can see how I could throw away a spoon, but how on earth could anyone throw away something as bulky as the sink trap (is that what it's called) without noticing?!

suedorcooYears back, my husband, a teacher was late for school. He only had one set of car keys and could not find them...literally tore the house apart looking to no avail. Then, accused everyone in the family for moving them. Just when he was about to leave to hitchhike into town...our beloved white fluffy cat yawned, stood up from where he was sleeping (on the island in the kitchen) and there, behold were the keys. We still talk about it.

Idaho ResidentLOS, So glad that you found your necklace ~ happy ending! Old joke: "Why is it always the last place you look before you find something?" Answer: "You quit looking after you find it!"

GraciepjI'm glad you found the necklace. As for dust bunnies, two of the worst places for me are the baseboard behind the bed and the space behind the computer credenza. Both places are almost impossible to access and tend to only get cleaned once or twice a year. I guess it's no wonder that I sneeze a lot in the office.

If you sometimes clean it out into the trash can I can see how you could get distracted and drop it in! Luckily they do sell replacement parts.
Sue that is a pretty funny story about the cat! Who would think?
Gracie, yep that is the real mess I found (behind the bed) When it stops raining I intend to take the drapery that hangs around the bed and the curtain behind the bed and launder them and while they are down, give the woodwork. a good cleaning.

Isn't it funny how we still need the right weather for certain tasks? For me, it's waiting until the heat abates before I take my bed apart, flip the mattress, wash and iron the bed skirts, and clean the wall and baseboard.
