I've had a 1" high density foam mattress topper on my bed for quite a while. I was going to try to throw it in my washing machine---but it's very heavy----it's king size. Does anyone know if they're washable?? If so, I'll take it to a laundarmat to use one of their big machines. TIA!

My personal opinion would be NOT to wash it. I can just see it crumbling and then if you did wash it,you would have to air dry it for days- preferably in sun- to make sure all moisture is out and reducing the chances of mold forming in it. Go to store and look at package of new ones to see what the care instructions are.

Duhhhh---I never thought of that! Thanks! We're planning on a new mattress after Christmas---and don't want to invest in a new one at this time.

Back when DS had a trampoline - I used it for just about everything! This would be a perfect solution for washing something like that! I don't think I'd try to wash it in my home machine, but a large machine at the laundromat might work. Or...you could throw a large sheet outside on the ground, then the foam topper...pour sudsy water over it...walk on it doing some toe squishing. Then turn the waterhose on it for a good rinse. Start at one end and begin rolling up and squeezing the water out...this might take two/three/four people. Move over to another clean dry sheet and lay it out until dry. ??? After awhile, you could drape it over a patio table/chair set if you have one. Just a suggestion. I'm almost certain that memory foam is not washable.

Foam topper is not the same as memory foam. Check the topper. Cleaning instructions may be on the tag, provided its still there. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

I would do as suggested if I were going to try to wash it. We have one and what I do when I change the sheets is to spray it with febreeze to frashen it while they are in the wash. Ours has a removable fabric cover and I take that off and wash it occaisionally.
