My serrated stainless steel table knives get gunk in the serration groves. Can someone tell me how to get this out? After they've been in the dishwasher it seems to be stuck on forever.

I would soak them in warm soapy water for a while than brush them with an old tooth brush. This should get them clean. In the future brush the serrated part with a brush before you wash them. Handie Ann

If the handles are wood, stand them in a glass full of hot soapy water to soak... Sherry Does this hat make my butt look big? www.keepyouinstitches.blogspot.com http://s193.photobucket.com/al...9/keepyouinstitches/ www.friendsofthedaingerfieldpu...library.blogspot.com

I hand wash all knives, serrated or not, except for table knives as I have always heard that the dishwasher is bad for both the blades and the handles.

IR I do the same as I also have been told that the dishwasher was not good for knives. Handie Ann

I hand wash my knives too. I've been told it's the heated drying cycle that does the damage to the blades...not to mention what it does to wood handles. That being said...I have two RADA paring knives from the early 1970s that I do put in the dishwasher. They are amazing little knives. However, I don't put my new RADA knives in there at all...now that I know better. I also do not use the heated dry cycle. At the end of the wash/rinse cycle, I open the door, pull the top rack out a bit, then close the door leaving it ajar. I figure the water was hot enough to sterilize. (DH had a stomach virus that I did not "inherit," so I guess my DWer is doing a decent job without the dry cycle.) Manage extra care, while cleaning knives or any other cutting instruments. One simple way is, take a clean cloth and washing soap apply on knife and rub with cloth, then wash with fresh water. This makes your knife clean. street cleaning
