My friend did a clever thing to display and store her hook (non-post) earrings.

She took a very fine rod and inserted both ends through small screw eyes which she had inserted in her bathroom wall. It is maybe 15 or 20" long. She hung her earrings from this. It is neat appearing, decorative and of course makes access very easy. Not only that but she and her husband each have their own bath so it is not "feminizing" a shared space.
