I have 2 active little boys with sweaty little feet resulting in their sandles smelling nasty. These sandles can't be put in the washer, so what can I use to absorb this stench? TIA

Sunshine has amazing deodorizing properties.
I'd try setting them outside in the sun on a really hot day.

I used some vinegar wiped on mine. Don't leave on too long. Wipe off with a damp cloth or paper towel. Think I used a dampen papertowel with vinegar to wipe on the sole of the sandle.

I know it's a no-no...but when my own sandals stink, I fix up some lightly soapy water, dunk - not soak - one sandal, then take a scrub brush to it. Immediately dunk in clear water and set the sandal in out to dry. Repeat with the other sandal. I'm not talking about plastic flip-flops either (don't wear those). Leather sandals with leather innersoles, etc.

It's either give that a chance or throw the stinky things away. I've never had to throw a pair away after cleaning them. After all...they get wet when it rains...so what's a quick dunking?

Trick from runners? If it is something you cannot wash...put them in a plastic bag and freeze them in the freezer overnight. It seems to kill off the odor, it will probably come back after a few days, but it sure helps in the meantime!

I've never tried it, but I read once that crumbled up newspaper will remove odors. You might try stuffing it in and around the sandles. Sprinkling baking soda on them may help too.

It's hard to imagine any shoe that cannot be washed. I wash leather pocketbooks and shoes in my washing machine. Just noticed that my leather scuffs (which I wear almost daily) need a good wash as they are white.

When shoes are DRY---(not wet at all) you can put cat litter and it will deodorize them

ALSO: rub with baking soda mixed with warm water and rub on sandal, then wipe off. I'd leave the soda sprinkled on the sandals overnight and then just dust off.

For any smell-either borax or baking soda is the best!

When I have a shoe stinky problem and it isn't too often, I just sprinkle baking soda on/in and leave it overnight then shake it out in the toilet(use it to clean said toilet), it seems to eliminate the odor. Boy, that was one long sentence wasn't it.

I almost had to laugh, cause a friend of mine who wears her beloved years-old sandals needs to read this...lol; the smell is so bad when she gets in my car that I almost gag...have to have all the air vents blowing in my face and On High!!! ick!

I'm with LOS on this one. Why can't the sandals go in the washer? They get soaking wet in the rain or with 2 little boys and a hose or squirt gun. I've thrown all sorts of shoes and purses in the wash, just let them air dry. What do you have to lose?

I'm with Jaysmom49... toss them in washer... probably don't have anything to lose but the STANK!!

I put them in the washer and they did ok. When I'd open the closet door, where I keep the shoes, the smell would hit you in the face. Stinky problem solved.

You'd think she'd notice and wonder if anyone else did also
