I remember a discussion that I had with a coworker about 25 years ago. It was about dusting and vacuuming.

I said that I always dust first and then do the vacuuming. He said that he dusts after the vacuuming because it stirs up the dust.

I still do it my original way. What do you do?

I always dust first and then vacuum. I usually have some sort of debris, fuzz or something fall on the floor when I dust.

Dust first here, too. Or probably more accurately, doing the floors is the LAST thing I do.

If one's vacuum stirs up or creates more dust during use...I think shopping for a new vacuum would be in order.

Floors last too. As far as I'm concerned that's the hardest job. I do it last, then I'm finished! Hallelujah!!!!

Just thinking...vacuums have an exhaust. When you first start vacuuming, the exhaust stirs up the dirt/dust on the floor/carpet. Would that not stir up the dirt/dust that has not been vacuumed up yet?

Dust?? Vacuum??

What? We are supposed to do THAT too?

It's usually dust first and then sweep and mop since it's all tile and wood floors in our house.

I am happy to hear that most everyone is on my sideSmile. When I dust I invariably have fringes, etc. that fall onto the floor. It just seems logical to do floors last!

Always floors last. Ask an expert...they will tell you the same thing.

We definitely don't want people to think that we are OCD do we? Wink

I vacuum the dust. Central vac really comes in handy. No dust blowing out the back of the vacuum back onto the furniture. I don't know how I lived without it.
