Just thinking...vacuums have an exhaust. When you first start vacuuming, the exhaust stirs up the dirt/dust on the floor/carpet. Would that not stir up the dirt/dust that has not been vacuumed up yet?
I am happy to hear that most everyone is on my side. When I dust I invariably have fringes, etc. that fall onto the floor. It just seems logical to do floors last!

I vacuum the dust. Central vac really comes in handy. No dust blowing out the back of the vacuum back onto the furniture. I don't know how I lived without it.
