I bought a very nice large glass bottle at a yard sale that used to have oil in it. Does anyone know how to wash it out? I tried using dishwashing detergent but there is still some oil in the bottom of the bottle. Thanks.

add soome dry rice to the detergent/soap and swish it around. the rice will scrub all those little spots you can't reach.

The rice is a great idea for cleaning the hard to reach places. Thanks Rachel!

Dawn detergent is supposed to be good on grease, too.

I would use Dawn and if the rice doesn't work, I was reading how to clean Hummingbird feeders and they said to use stainless steel BBs... like I have those or know where to find them! And the birds were hungry, no time to run errands! So I hunted around and found a bag of little gold safety pins. What am I doing with a bag of 50-100 gold saftey pins, I wonder?? Anyway, they worked really well and laid out on a paper towel they dried beautifully, to be used again.
