HELP!! Feeling so overwhelmed and 6 months pregnant. I'm a stay at home mom of an adorable little princess who will be 3 in November. Our second child is due in December and we recently found out we're having a boy. I found a really good deal on 6 diaper boxes full of baby boy clothes assorted sizes newborn to 12 months. Also we were given 5 huge bags from another friend assorted sizes newborn to 2t. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment with very limited space and hardly any storage room. We have a walk in closet that we can make some room in. The new baby area will be in our bedroom where there's enough room for a crib and dresser and possibly some shelving. I really need tips on how to sort through the clothes and storing so it's easy to switch out the sizes as the baby grows.

Congratulations on your growing family. Yours sounds like my DD's with one girl and one boy (20 & 16 now) you will be giving your parents great joy with these children!

How you feel is very understandable and you might get some comfort if you could ask a friend to go through the things with you. I would suggest getting rid of anything in the assortment that you do not like or would never use.

Then clean it all and sort according to sizes. You don't need to give prime time storage to 18 month old sizes, for instance. Just put the clean larger clothes in plastic bags and maybe put the bags in a suitcase or something under bed.

If you still have more than you can use, there is probably a Mom to be in less fortunate circumstances that would love to share in your baby clothes wealth! Continued good luck with your health and in the wonderfulness of motherhood!

The "really" LARGE ziplock bags can work well. I think Target and Walmart sometimes carry them. They work to sort smaller groupings and you can still see what is in them. Compress them before sealing and they take up less space. Sort by type and size of items.
Donate or give away things that are less than perfect or a hassle to dress a baby in, if you can. They tend not to be used the second or third time around if something better is available.

Then the lidded plastic totes to group the clear bags in will keep things neat and stackable.

The very first thing I would do is to go through and put any items that I didn't like or think that I would use in a bag to donate. Then what is left are the things you will be keeping and using.

I would sort them by sizes-like maybe 0-6m,9-12m,18-24m,2T.

I would then buy whatever size storage containers that are needed to hold each size group and store them in the bottom of the closet, under the bed, etc. That way, when you need those sizes, you just get out the container with them and you don't have to get out all the clothes.

Congratulations on your new little one!
