And how long do you think I'll keep it that way (LOL!)

It had been painted a pinkish beige and I repainted a clean crisp white. I'm not sure how old the shelving is -- perhaps dates to the 40s when the house had a rehab (new kitchen and the ds bath put in) for it's not original.

It's not a separate room either but down three steps from those shelves on the left is the back door.

Originally the "ice box" was here -- behind the door that you see -- easy access but the "mess" was not in the kitchen!

We did have the shelves built that we have the Le Creuset and small appliances on -- too much vertical space not to have shelves!

Painted the stairs as well and their a lighter beige (were dark brown and you couldn't see any dirt -- now that they're lighter you can see everything!)

Love this area and the fact that it is only 3 cans deep -- it is hard to loose things in here (although I still can -- LOL!) and is great storage for the mustards and vinegars and baking supplies and dried fruit and a bit of pasta and rice and jams and jellies and teas.

I don't buy in bulk so this space is perfect for my needs.

I only wish it were a real room!

Martha

Linderhof, Absolutely love it - you've made an up-dated workable space out of one that probably saw many years of frustration from the "cooks" who lived there before you! BTW, I personally love older kitchen and homes -especially when the people who live there take care of them AND USE THEM as you obviously do! Cool

Love the bisquit container - is that for the 2 or 4 legged folks in your home? Nice organized space, and tho its not a separate room it works for you and better than no storage. Nice job!

Very nicely organized. I really need to purge some of the small electrics that I've been given out of my pantry. That would free up a new shelf for a few things that are cluttering up my laundry room.

It looks so pretty and organized and a perfect out of the way storage space. My dmil always used the term "larder" too. I asked her to explain the first time she said it.

My poor pantry at home needs to be totally cleaned out and reorganized. Who knows what would be found in the back on that bottom shelf!!! It's about 24 inches deep, so you can imagine how things can get lost in there.
