When I got my granite put down, the company I used said only soap and water and wipe down.

Although I rinse and wipe dry, there always seems to be a bit of a cloudy film.

One of the people I workk with suggested 409 solid surface/granite cleaner. Anyone used this?
Any thoughts or other suggestions?

I use Pledge Multi-Surface spray and a paper towel.

I don't use anything special. Dh bought some sort of cleaner/sealer (spray on, wipe off) from Home Depot and I've used it once or twice but I generally just use my sponge or wet microfiber cloth.

I have black granite counters, and they really show dust and smears. I use hot soapy water and a clean bar towel to wipe mine and it works great. The thing to remember is that it is better to wipe the counter before you wash up the dishes. If you wipe the counter after you have washed up other things there will be some grease in the water and it will look smeary on the granite. If you want to wipe the counters last, then grab a clean cloth and run some new hot soapy water.

Basically I use soap and water, and to really shine it up, I use Sparkle=sprayed on - it's similiar to windex, but purple in color. I use it on all my glass tops as well as granite.

I use Perfect Kitchen cleaner. It is available at Bed,Bath&Beyond for $4.99..It does not leave streaks and can be used on all of your appliances too. My granite sparkles!

I have black granite countertops too. They do show a lot! I use granite gold daily cleaner and once in a while their polish. I bought it at BB&B. Good luck. Microfiber cloth is key too!

When my aunt died, she had several marble and grantetopped antique dresses that had not been cleaned in several years. My parents had decided to sell all the furniture, but the granite and marble toped dressers needed to be really cleaned up. It blew my mind when my mom used WARM MILK to clean them up!She wiped the warm milk on the dresser top with a soft cloth and them almost at once, wiped it off with another soft cloth,Then she used another soft cloth to polish the dressers tops!(since she had 5 kids, she had an ample supple of old cloth diapers to use.(( we were all born long before disposable diappers were even heard off!)) The dresser tops were all very clean and shiny. Just make sure that if you decide to use this method of cleaning that you use fresh milk, as sour milk may cause some pitting or other damage to the granite.

yikes!!! What a difference

I now looks exactly how it did the day it was installed. I'm still using the microfiber towels and using the granite cleaner once a week when doing the "weekly" kitchen cleaning....the rest of the time, just been using water only and then drying with the mocrofiber. The 409 granite stuff just made such a difference.....

If you've not tried it and have dark granite, I highly recommend it.

REL- I think it depends on what kind of water you have....if it's very hard and full of icky minerals....vinegar and water isin't working for some of us.

i always clean with water and soap, as simple as that. when i bought my kitchen granite a year ago, no hassle time in cleaning it. i ask the expertise of Cumar on how to maintain and clean it when i bought my kitchen granite.
