Has anyone done a hands-on comparison of Cricut vs. Pazzles? I am looking to purchase a digital cutting system, and it seems to me that Pazzles would be better because it can use any TrueType font rather than having to buy the individual cartridges, as with the Cricut. Does anyone have any experience either way? Thanks!

I have not personally tried either one, but my hesitation about the pazzle is that it has to hook to my computer. I can't take it with me. I like to scrap with friends and take things to scouts, school etc. The pazzle wouldn't allow that. The cricut is neat because I can take it places.

However, I do see the cool ness of using any adobe or true type font.

What a tossup!

My girlfriend owns a scrap store and she has the Pazzles Professional. It is well worth it as she can render original designs and cut them using the Pazzles. She has designed the most awesome diecuts and is now looking into creating stencils. The Cricut is nice, but I think rather overpriced from what I've seen. There are a few other diecut machines, the Silhouette and the CraftRobo that will cut using your pc. I do agree with the other poster, though about dragging the machine to a crop.

Thanks to both of you for your input. It's very helpful and is kind of the direction I was going in. I do more scrapbooking on my own than going to crops, although the crops are more fun. Still interested in input from others. Thanks again!

If you don't mind connecting it to a computer to avoid the costs of cartridges, you should also consider the Craft Roboand Wishblade.

All of these machines are what sign makers call 'Plotters'.

I own a Cricut and love mine but I wish I had the Pazzle. I watched it and know for the money you cannot go wrong. I love the fact you can do anything you want design instead of paying out $80.00 for different software.

I have the Pazzles Pro and love it. I bought it for my store and refused to give it up when I closed. I love the fact that I can cut anything I want to, I am not limited to a cartridge. The Pro is however not for the personal scrapper, I would recommend checking out the Inspiration, which is closer in size to the Cricut. You might want to check out the cutter groups on yahoo for more information about different cutters.

Hi, I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I got the Expression for Christmas...I LOVE it!! As for using true type fonts, there is a program which you can purchase, SCAL, (hopefully this link works) http://www.craftedge.com/ which allows you to use any ttf or dingbats.......for that matter you can also get another FREE program, Inkscape, which allows you to cut graphics, like coloring book pics and such, there is a learning curve, but not bad. The expression with SCAL you'll have all you could EVER want!!! Just my opinion!

This is great information. Thanks! I like the price and the portability of the Cricut better than the Pazzle, but paying close to $100 every time I buy a new cartridge doesn't interest me. In the long run, the Pazzle would be cheaper. However, the information you have given about auxiliary software has me rethinking the whole decision. Again, thank you!

I am pretty new to scrapbooking. I do teach kindergarten in a small (100 kids) school. We were looking in to getting the Cricut. We make scrapbooks for the kids and the cutting systems look nice for displays, etc. I haven't heard of the Pazzle. Where can you find these? I watched a little infomercial on Cricut yesterday. It does look neat. Do you have to use special paper? We have lots of Ellison die-cuts. But the Cricut looks like it makes things a lot more detailed. Please give me opinions on these 2 cutters. THANKS! Big Grin
