Why is this show being shoved down our throats? The show is on for at least an hour nightly, and few people watch the darn thing. I dislike the show and do not care for Barry at all and never watch it. Please stop!!!!!!
I am really tired of House Hunters, as well.

Unfortunately, HGTV doesn't seem to care what 99.9% of us on these boards think - the show stinks, is phoney, a waste of time and we can't stand Barry.

Isn't it obvious? They are trying to drive us to watch DIY and Fine Living! Wink

I actually like to see what they come up with. It shows all the possibilities.
BUT....Their "budget" amounts and estimates are SO out of whack it's ridiculous!
i.e. a bath remodel that's like a few thousand dollars?!!!!
I saw similar REAL estimates/expenditures on other HGTV shows that were $25K!
A far cry from a few grand!
If they were actually more realistic about how much remodels/redesigns would ACTUALLY cost, it would at least make it more bearable to watch!
HGTV...PLEASE pass this on b/c their dollar amounts are total b.s.
Thanks!

I actually like the show, even though I always question certain aspects of it. It would be a shame if they got rid of it because there are some of us who do like it. I don't expect every show to be to my liking. I can watch or not as a choose.

On the other hand, I've never seen a show that I would miss a lot if it went away. I love WWTH but now that it is no more, I'll live.

If you don't like the show, don't watch it, lol. A lot of us do watch it, which is why they're doing a spinoff. Think about it......

My guess is that they are doing a spinoff because it's such a cheap show to make. There are very few production costs - just film a few people walking around a house. Doesn't matter where, doesn't matter why, just walk them around. There is no wrap up to this show - Barry can say anything he wants and who is going to argue with him?

What could be cheaper or easier?

If they are trying to get us to watch DIY or Fine Living, it's working! I rarely watch HGTV anymore. Don't even know what's on.

I agree that the show's estimates for the renovations are waaayyy off. I do enjoy seeing the new designs. But I really wish they would revisit the families after they've been in their new house for awhile - kinda like they do on House Hunters.

It'd be neat to see if they did the renovations, stuck to the initial plans, stuck to their budget...and just how the projects went. I wonder if a fair amount of the time the people don't end up buying the house and/or don't make any significant renovations right away.

Other threads on this subject have discussed that the show is nothing more than a showcase for the particular software program that Barry uses - the rest of it is a myth - there are no real couples looking for/seeing an actual house and there is no buying of the house and no renovations. THIS is why they don't show the after pictures. Not sure what this new spinoff is going to show but if it's as bad as the first, the vast majority of us won't be watching that one either.

Show the houses after the renovations and I will watch the show.

What really rocks me is the fact that the renovations come AFTER they buy the house, therefore, they are only getting a loan on the value of the house as it is, not after it has been remodeled, so where does the money come from to do the work? If the buyers HAVE THE MONEY, then they can use it to buy a house that doesn't need to be extensively remodeled. What is wrong with this program? Lots of fantasy, not part of the real world of buying a house, and the misrepresentation is insulting.
