From the day one i am addicted to this show and the kind of dishes they made.I'm loving it and about Anthony u r incredible man.

Robert Irving is in Restaurant Impossible

I was watching Restaurant Impossible with Robert Irvine. I named the thread Restaurant Impossible, but did not repeat the name in my comment. I will remedy that in any future writings so there won't be any confusion.

I also watch Hotel Impossible with Anthony Melchoir and really like it.

I have seen Blanche Garcia, Casey Noble and Tanya Nayak as the designers on these shows. I also notice that Lynn Kegan, who was a carpenter on Designed to Sell with Tanya Nayak, has now emerged as a designer on these DIY shows.

I believe you are the one that brought Anthony from Hotel Impossible into the thread.

I like both shows, Robert Irvine can be a bit of a jerk and more than one of the restaurants have gone on to fail after the show. All of them probably would have failed without the show. The Cap'n and the Cowboy that was recently rebroadcast ultimately closed. And Nanny Goats was sold shortly after the show. The retired Marine that had the place in Virginia sold off his restaurant as well.

What amazes me about RI especially is how many people go into the restaurant business with no experience at all. They'll sink their retirement savings into a restaurant without ever having worked in one let alone managed one. I feel fairly confident that my 1 year of experience in HS working at a Bonanza Steak House in the wash room and behind the grill in no way prepared me to decide to open one.

Blanch Garcia from Hotel Impossible was on Design Star, not that I watch that show, but I read about it on her website.

I have been a waitress in Bars and resturants and bars most of my life
and I would NOT own one or attempt to own one

the money part is a nightmare and I am inept at financing anyway,and I for the life of me cannot figure out how some of these people get into this buisness,
But its apparent that Robert and Anthony seem to help these people and get them on the right track,haven't had time yet to check the sites to see how they have progressed
Hope the sites are truly real and not fake like so many others

I usually look them up to see what the Yelp ratings are and what has happened since RI or HI worked their magic. Last year RI revisited a number of the restaurants and most were still in business and doing much better.

It would be nice if they'd give themselves 2 whole days to turn the place around on RI. Tom and the designer du jour normally get at most 30 hours and they get to work through the night while Robert heads back to his hotel for a night's sleep. Instead of Restaurant Impossible it could be "Restaurant Incredible."

I commented on a thread a while back that I started on the shows that it is pretty sad when you need to watch the Travel Channel and Food Network to get actual design shows. Maybe DIY and HGTV will start having cooking shows. ;-)

Then it could be HGCTV LOL,or course should they take the G Out it would be HCTV LOL

or course as of now the only way I know of is to get Garden shows is going on the HGTV's site and downloading the beautiful gardening ideas
now that's SAD

Now the food network and travel channel is also limited on good programming,but is worth the time to watch it HI and RI are my favorites
DIY has a lot more ideas and shows to watch to get ideas

But RI is still my favorite

I haven't seen either show yet but they sound interesting.

I have known two restaurant owners in my life (both were very talented and knowledgeable) and both sold their places because it was such a difficult business to manage. Love to go to good restaurants but do not envy the hard work and risks they have to take.

Through Boy Scouts I know several chefs that have worked at nicer restaurants. One is working at the Cisco cafeteria in RTP the other is teaching a local college culinary program. If you're working in the restaurant business you're working nights and weekends all the time. It is a tough business, which is probably why 2 out of 3 new restaurants fail.
