* Has anyone else noticed how Scott McG wears stylish/unique (usually knit) shirts, not often common polos? * Does anyone else get annoyed when they show you much of the reveal on HGTV shows in the "coming up"/"coming next" teasers? * Do you think there's too much forced joviality on many shows (I'm thinking of the crash and curb appeal shows)? * Do you think we'll ever see educational shows like "Gardening By the Yard" or "Help Around the House" or that design show with that man and woman ever again? Seems that pretty soon HGTV will be able to borrow other networks' mottoes: "We Know Drama" and "Characters Welcomed".

No, but I sure do love those "crash" and "curb appeal" shows. My favorite shows on HGTV are: Design Star Curb Appeal The Block (wish it would air in prime time however. Didn't realize it wasn't on repeats till I caught it a couple of Saturdays and saw they were brand new episodes) Love it or List it - Love it, despite its obvious Income Property Kitchen Cousins Holmes Inspection Property Brothers Yard Crashers (only the ones with Ahmed hosting) Bath Crashers But TOO MANY House Hunters and House Hunters International!

I agree with the majority of your "favorite" shows, but I think you forgot "Junk Gypsies"

sante_fe since you mentioned Scott on Income Property, I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed that on the newer shows they seem to be spending less time with the actual "remodeling and construction" and more time having Scott interact with the homeowners and play to the cameras?

Buckeye, I think it's all a part of HGTV's turn towards character-driven, and less subject-driven shows.
|
Yes, you're correct -- I like "Junk Gypsies" as well.
|
Yes - I absolutely despise it! I DVR everything so I can fast forward through the beginning credits where they show the reveal.
|
I don't mind it.It lets me know if I will be interested in watching the program.
|
The Junk Gypsies seem like nice ladies, but I've only watched a couple of the programs... ...Too much "clutter" for me. Guess I prefer a cleaner, more modern and fairly minimal look. Oh, and Scott McG can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. I do agree, however, that some of the frivolity on many of the shows seem "forced," and we could live without it.This message has been edited. Last edited by: lavern2,

Yep, I always cover the screen with my hand when they're showing the reveal in the opening. Some shows I have to do it multiple times.

Santa_Fe, everything changed when HGTV decided to go the "entertainment" route. Thank you for starting this thread. It is interesting. I like all the comments.

Maybe they should change the name to HTV ENTERTAINING OR HTV ALL FOR REAL ESTATE of course the G is gone and so are all the good gardening showsThis message has been edited. Last edited by: CC-IMO,

Yes, Scott does wear a lot of nice clothes when he initially goes to the client's homes and does wear old stuff when he is actually doing the work! Nothing wrong with that! Love his show and can't wait for the new season! As for too much joviality? I don't see it. If anything it's too much nastiness, being unreasonable, picky to the nth degree, you name it on all the real estate shows. I don't know how Scott has escaped that! Oh forgot to list my favorite shows: Income Property Buying and Selling Unsellables Property Virgins HH (only US homes) Rehab AddictThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Debbyinohio,

Another thought: Ever notice how people often attribute home styles to a certain decade and they seem way off? The 70s and 80s seem to blamed for everything!
|
I have to agree...In 20-30 years people will be saying "OMG that was designed in 2012!"

Is anyone else startled by the number of posts they've made to this board? Do/will most people stay in their starter homes or even call homes "starter" anymore? Does anyone else think John DeSilvia and Sandra Rinomato look like they could be related (eyes)?
|
YES!! THEY DO! I found this post because i was googling to see if they were related! I am glad im not the only one who thinks there is a resemblance, LOL
