Is anyone else disgusted and sick and tired of watching shows on HGTV where the people are constantly whining about having to live through a week or two long renovation...or being so entitled that they MUST have granite and stainless steel and only HIGH END fixtures in their (new) home? I'm tired of it - I miss shows where you actually taught me how to do something or gave me ideas for rooms/spaces, etc. Now all I see are whiny people "suffering" because a room is the wrong color and/or they don't have enough foresight to see the possibilities. Whatever happened to living within your means and hard work? Another thing - shows where you have a budget that's ALWAYS blown because you use exorbitantly priced fixtures and appliances that really aren't necessary to make the place look great. Get back to basics, HGTV.

Frequently I am asking my spouse "where do they find these people?" Wish they could have seen us in 1961 in a 900 sq. ft. home with 4 children under 4 and one more on the way. I'm guessing that there is some "literary license" going on. I guess it's not entertaining to watch people who are thrilled with anything better than what they have and are amazed that Jonathan can fix up their castle "on the cheap" and make it look so pleasant and charming.

Grandma Nina, are you referring to me as "Mary Lee?" Or are YOU Mary Lee?

That also has been my question, Who are these people that don't mind appearing quite unintelligent in their responses on national TV?We have discussed this issue before, and none of the responses equal the ones that we see in any of those program. So, there has to be a catch. Either they are scripted to say whatever the producers say that they should say, or they are paying them very well to appear really stupid on TV
